Australian Cattle Dogs are intelligent, intense companion
animals that need training, time and companionship. Because of their herding traits they
need a fenced yard or other protection from car wheels and bicycle wheels. Never let your
ACD roam your neighborhood. Think to the future.
ACDs protective nature does not have to be expressed in
general aggression. Socialize your dog by taking it places, correct barking and aggression
so the dog knows you are in control and you decide when someone is a friend or not. Do not
allow your dog to nip anyone. They are smart enough to know the difference between humans
and livestock. Teach your dog with love and confidence. Look at the Owners
Handbook an unofficial, but priceless resource for ACDs
