Puppy Development Timeline

1. Whelped (born) Feb 5th,
2. Eyes Opened Feb 15 & 16th,
3. Ears Opened --- Feb 18th
4. Teeth Erupt --- soon -
5. Feb 23rd they had their first milk supplement.  I put the milk in muffin tins so they each had their own little bowl. Most of them were up to their shoulders in milk. Seems that staking out your bowl territory works best when you put both front feet in it.
6. They are ahead of the estimated development schedule. Feb 22 they have discovered wrestling and toys. Paw play involves approaching another with paw up and mouth opened. Usually they both end up rolling over in slow motion on their backs looking very pleased with themselves.
7. Nail trimming time comes each Tuesday.
8. This week ( March 5th) they have really learned what to do with them! They are carrying around the baby keys, have dragged the stuffed white bear into the baby crate, tugging on each others tails and ears.
9. They are learning that when they bite hard, the other puppy screams and none of the puppies will play with them.  Molly intervenes when play gets rough, too. She usually gives a nose shove to each of the players and moves on to cleaning. All bite inhibition is taught with other puppies and other dogs.
10. they are now in the living room on tile floor. Its easier to keep clean and they can regulate their own body temperature now. They continue to waddle over to the newspaper or plastic mat to eliminate. It makes clean ups easy.
